Kilcar
Kilcar is one of the most beautiful villages in Co. Donegal with its spectacular scenery the is nowhere else to be seen.
Whether it's viewing the scenery, walking, hiking, fishing, golfing or just soaking up the sun and taking in the
fresh air on our beautiful beaches
Pubs : There is many pubs in Kilcar where there is entertainment such as traditional Irish music all
 summer long. John Joes Bar is popular as it has been a winner of the Traditional Irish Music
 Pub of the Year Award. Other lively pubs are The Pipers Rest, Kilcar House and O'Gara's
  
Hill walking :There is many hill walking treks that are very popular with visitors
  
FestivalsKilcar has its own festival each year the first week-end in August. The festival is enjoyed by
 both locals and visitors as there are children events on the streets during the day and then there
 is Traditional Irish music and bands in the evenings both indoor and outdoor.
  
Community Center : Aislann Cill Chartha is the community and sports hall where there is a gym, cinema,
 internet access and a sports hall where you can play football, volleyball etc.
  
Culture &Kilcar is in the Gaeltacht area and is renowned for it's culture.
Archaeology Kilcar has many old buildings, graveyards and tombs. More information on local history
 can be got in Aislann Cill Chartha. There is also the a holy well just beside our house
 called St Kieran's well. This is where we got the name for our house.

Neighbouring Towns
Glencolmkille : The Folk Village Museum in Glencolkille is a beautiful half hour drive from St Kieran's B&B.
 The museum offers visitors the chance to relive life as experienced by the people of the
 southwest in the 18th, 19th and 20th century Ireland and to see the various utensils , lamps and
 furniture that were used by then during the different periods. Glencolmkille is also famous for its
 tweed and knitwear products
  You can also enjoy a game of golf here as it is quite popular with visitors.
  
Killybegs : The fishing village is only 5km from our house. It is Irelands biggest fishing port and you can go
 there to watch the fishing boats unload their catch of fish at the pier. Some of the biggest and
 most modern fishing trawlers in Europe port here.
   
Bruckless : This quaint little village which is only 8km from our house is popular with
 visitors because it has an Equestrian Center & Open Farm.
 They hold pony & horse riding competitions on a regular basis.
